Follow in the Footsteps of the World’s Most Popular Band

Liverpool is the birthplace of the world’s most popular band, The Beatles, and various tours offer the opportunity to follow in their footsteps, by visiting sights that have played an important role in the band’s history, including “The Beatles Story” in Albert Dock and the rebuilt Cavern Club, where they made their debut in 1961, the Beatles Shop and McCartney’s home, where they wrote and rehearsed many of their early songs.

The superbly restored Albert Dock is an impressive high block surrounding the harbor basin. The enormous Victorian buildings are built around an arcaded walkway and house boutiques, restaurants, cafés and museums, including the International Slavery Museum. If you want to combine a nice cup of coffee or a great meal with some very interesting information about the city’s history, Albert Dock is just the right place.

Learn Titanic’s saga & Dinosaur’s Secrets

The Maritime Museum is home to intriguing exhibitions about emigrants who left for North America. Model ships, authentic workshops, historic vessels and exhibits reanimating the tragic tales of Titanic and Lusitania will fascinate kids and grownups. Your children will also be thrilled by the U-boat Story, recreating the life aboard a submarine during wartime.

Thousands of kids have also gazed wide-eyed at Liverpool’s World Museum’s dinosaur exhibits and Egyptian mummies, while its aquarium and planetarium still magnetizes parents and children of all ages.

Family Escapes at the Pier Head

Get Active in Crosby Marina  

The Crosby Marina is famed for Sir Gormley’s “Another Place”,  a piece of modern sculpture consisting of 100 sculptures of the artist’s own body, facing towards the sea and getting “drowned” by the tide twice a day, making it a rather moving spectacle. But Crosby marina has much more to offer.

This watery labyrinth of pontoons and reed beds is used for watersports and cycling. The Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre, besides being a place of outstanding natural beauty, offers visitors the chance to enjoy paddling, rowing, powerboating or sailing and windsurfing.

Alongside, the Wakeboarding Centre offers lessons in sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and power boating and a chance to try the notorious boatless wakeboarding that will thrill adventure addicts.
