Surfing
Surfing is the art of riding breaking waves into shore on a surfboard. When a wave starts to break, a surfer paddles to keep up before the wave curls into a distinctive swell.
The surfer may lie, sit, or stand on their boards to ride to shore. Lessons involve practising your technique on the beach before hitting the surf.

Training & Qualifications
The British Surfing Association (BSA) offer training or adults and juniors with recognised certification for 5 skill levels.
No training is required though. You can just learn through trial and error, with advice from some friends or those you meet on the water. Always follow local safety advice and stay safe.
Gear
The choice of surfboard is based on your height, weight, age, where you surf, how often you surf and your ability. When choosing it’s often better to play it long than short.
A wetsuit is required for surfing in the UK which most fit correctly to allow you to stay warm on even the coldest days.
