- Paintballing |
Paintball is a fast-paced activity in which teams or individual players eliminate their opponents and has quickly become one of the most popular sports in the UK. Using a special gun that fires pellets of paint or BB pellets, players need to have good aim and be agile enough to duck and dive to be in with a chance of winning.
Paintball is typically played as a leisure activity with friends, or as a teambuilding exercise, but there are also national-level organised competitions and tournaments for professionals teams. Military organisations have also been known to use it as part of training!
Players are divided up into teams and must put on protective gear – at the very least, a face mask, but usually a combat suit and body armour. All paint guns are regulated with special barrel-blocking safety equipment and rules are strictly enforced to keep players safe and comfortable.
Games can last anywhere from one minute in intense ‘speedball’ games, to an entire day that consists of multiple battles and players can take part in realistic battlegrounds and dramatic scenarios that range from Call of Duty and Urban Warfare to Tank Convoy and Air Assault. One major plus of paintballing, is that it can be played on indoor or outdoor fields or pitches, using natural or artificial terrain that provides cover for players. Rules vary, and games may centre around capturing a flag, elimination or defending a particular object or area.
