Geocaching
Geocaching
Geocaching is a modern treasure hunt, where an item or container holding a number of items, is hidden at a particular location. GPS users try to find the spot, using coordinates posted on the Internet.
It is important to have teams that can work together, communicate and solve problems. Geocaching can help develop these skills in a team.
It combines the best of treasure hunting with smartphone technology to come up with a modern version of the treasure hunt. Items are placed in a waterproof container or geocache as it is known which is then hidden.
Teams have to find the cache at the location published on the web. In getting to the place, teams may need to perform a series of tasks along the way. The location, the route and the tasks are all built into the geocaching app that team members have on their GPS enabled smartphone.
Since geocaching involves the use of smartphones, it can be fun to get team members taking photos recording the event as they go around the course and post these online.
