Abseiling
Abseiling
Abseiling involves using a rope to descend a cliff, abseil tower or slope that is too steep to hike down.
The activity originated as a mountaineering technique but is now a popular activity in its own right. Abseiling is commonly used in climbing as a descent technique when walking around an object is impossible or too time consuming. With a belay or abseil device, it is possible to easily descend from steep walls or high locations.
The activity can be tailored to suit all levels of physical ability, with it known that ‘If you can walk, you can abseil’.
